My View On Discrimination

We live in a vibrant and rich world due to its diversity. Each individual brings unique experiences, perspectives, and talents to the table, making our community more resilient, dynamic, and creative. However, for us to truly benefit from this diversity, it is crucial that every individual is treated with dignity, respect, and fairness, regardless of their race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or any other aspect of their identity.

People tend to be happier, more peaceful, and more productive when treated fairly. They are more likely to contribute positively to their communities and actively engage in social and economic activities. They feel seen, heard, and valued, creating a sense of belonging and contentment.

Fair treatment nurtures an environment where people can focus on their abilities and potential rather than worrying about being discriminated against. This enhances the individual’s well-being and strengthens the social fabric and the city’s economic health.

A non-discrimination ordinance symbolizes a city’s commitment to safeguarding these principles of fairness and equality. It sends a clear message that discrimination in any form will not be tolerated in Wichita, thus making the city a more welcoming, harmonious, and prosperous place to live.

One world. One people. We are all human.
